About Stadium
Arun Jaitly Stadium playing This Match:
The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) owns and manages the Arun Jaitley Stadium, a cricket stadium that is situated on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in New Delhi.[2][3] The stadium was built in 1883 and given the name Feroz Shah Kotla in honour of the nearby Kotla fort. It is India's second-oldest active international cricket stadium, behind Kolkata's Eden Gardens. It has hosted 34 Tests, 25 ODIs, and 6 T20I as of October 25, 2019.The DDCA named four stadium stands in honour of former India captain Bishan Singh Bedi, former India all-rounder Mohinder Amarnath, and former India and Delhi opener Gautam Gambhir during a 2017 awards ceremony. The locker rooms for the home team and visiting team respectively bear the names Raman Lamba and Prakash Bhandari.[4] Following the passing of former DDCA President and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on August 24, 2019, the stadium was renamed in his honour on September 12th. According to DDCA President Rajat Sharma, Arun Jaitley's encouragement and support allowed players like Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, and Gautam Gambhir to succeed. Many others, including Rishabh Pant, Ashish Nehra, and Gambhir, could be proud of India.[5] During his time as DDCA president, Arun Jaitley is also credited with making the stadium a more contemporary structure, expanding its capacity, and constructing better facilities for athletes. On September 12, 2019, a ceremony took place to officially rename the stadium. On the same day, a stadium stand was dedicated to former Indian captain Virat Kohli. Former Indian captain Bishan Singh Bedi criticised the name change.[6] The Feroz Shah Kotla Ground will continue to go by that name, according to DDCA's clarification following the name change announcement.
